Trace David Stadin was born on February 12, 1953 in Olivia, Minnesota, the son of Lois and Rodney Stadin. Trace was raised throughout Minnesota and South Dakota. He graduated from Sturgis High School in 1971 and then attended SDSU in hopes of becoming a pharmacist, but his mother passed away unexpectedly and he was unable to continue his studies. He joined the Army and served in Germany from 1971 to 1973.
Trace worked for the US Postal Service in Sioux Falls as an electronics technician for many years. In 1983, he transferred to the post office in Fargo, North Dakota. While living in Fargo, Trace met Crystal Schmidt and they were united in married on September 6, 1985. They lived in Fargo for a year before Trace transferred back to Sioux Falls Post Office. In 1991, Trace decided that he wanted to be his own boss and he and Crystal started T-C Poweder Coating at the home in Harrisburg. They were blessed with two children, Tobias in 1992 and Ciara in 1997. Trace retired in 2023.
Trace loved the Black Hills and being outdoors. He enjoyed music of all genres and eras, watching his Westerns on tv and the wildlife in his backyard.
Grateful for having shared in his life is his ex-wife, Crystal; two children, Tobias (Stephanie) and Ciara; his grandson, Everrette; and his sister, Hope; and his best friend, Ron Weismann. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Rodney; his brother, Rodney, Jr; and his in-laws, LeRoy and Peggy Schmidt.
