Sharlene Ellis

Sharlene “Shar” (Dubbelde) Ellis, 74, passed away on May 15, 2026. Born on December 4, 1951, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Shar was known for her caring spirit, strong faith, love for family, friends, and the outdoors.

Shar was an active member of First Baptist Church, Miller, South Dakota, where she found joy in fellowship and service. She had a creative heart and enjoyed many crafts throughout her life, especially sewing and hand stitching. Shar also loved spending time outdoors and was an avid fisherwoman and hunter.

She is survived by her daughter, ReNee Whitehorn; her sisters, Karen and Loren Oetken of Akron, Iowa, Sandy Watson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Rose and Rick Hinman of Mead, Colorado; Lori and Jack Baye of Spearfish, South Dakota. her brother, Robert and Sherri Dubbelde of Brant Lake, South Dakota. She is preceded in death by her husband Harry Ellis, parents, Irvin “George” and Mary Ann Dubbelde, sister Mona Drake and brother Arnold “Arnie” Dubbelde.

She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
