Sally was born on July 21, 1956 in Germany, the daughter of Samuel T. Harper, Jr. and Shisuye “June” (Shibata) Harper.

She graduated from the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in 1975. Sally attended National College of Business in Rapid City and earned a four-year degree in Computer Science, graduating in 1979.

Sally worked at the SDDC, starting as a dorm parent and transitioning to a teacher’s aide. She later worked in the instruction department for the deaf and blind.

Sally married Ronald Dean Hofius on August 17, 1985 in Redfield. She enjoyed crocheting, spending time at the casino, skiing, square dancing, playing Bingo and was a Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Sally passed away on March 26, 2026 in Madison after battling lung cancer.

She is survived by Tanner Hofius of Madison, SD, Lance Hofius of Doland, SD, and Ramsey (Kali) Hofius of Madison, SD; grandchildren, Lincoln, Aspen, Porter and Raydin Hofius; a sister, Suzie (David) Samuelson of Williston, ND, along with many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald in 2008, and her sister, Sherry Hartung.
