Richard Tuley passed away on December 29, 2025, at the age of 90.
Born in 1935 to Anna and Josef Tuley of Chicago, Richard grew up with a strong sense of duty and determination. After attending Morton Junior College Richard joined the United States Marine Corps. During his service, Richard married Patricia Ann Dunn in November 1957.
Following an honorable discharge, Richard attended Southern Illinois University. He began his career with the Federal Government as an agent for the Bureau of Narcotics and later transferred to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, relocating to Minnesota. Richard and family moved to Sioux Falls South Dakota in 1980. Richard retired from the Bureau in 1990.
Richard was a man of many talents and interests. Over the years, he mastered drafting, masonry, electrical work, plumbing, automotive repair and bodywork, as well as carpentry. He earned a private pilot’s license, owned a hobby store, and after retiring from government service, became a licensed realtor. Richard could accomplish anything he set his mind to.
An avid deer hunter, Richard cherished time in the woods, finding it relaxing and peaceful. He also had a passion for model trains and enjoyed the tradition of encircling the Christmas tree with a model railroad set.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 68 years, Patricia Tuley; their children, Brian Tuley (Teresa) of Arlington, Washington; Laura Tuley Arneson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Andrea Tuley (Craig Lyon) of Burke, South Dakota. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jessica Tuley of Puyallup, WA; Breanna Lothert (Tyler) of Redwood Falls, MN; Jon Tuley of Seattle, WA; Nicholas Arneson of Lincoln NE, Lindsey (Elliot) Nysven of Yankton, SD; Savannah Lyon of Burke, SD; Kendall Lyon of Burke, SD; Zach Pederson of Granite Falls, WA, Evan Pederson Arlington WA, Carly Pederson Elk Point SD, Jack Pederson Lynnwood WA, and great-grandchildren Ivory, Delaney, Denny, and Oliver.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Josef Tuley.
