Martin Hood

April 30, 1968 — June 23, 2022

Martin was born on April 30, 1968 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the son of Gary Hood and Sandra Guthmiller. He graduated from Tri-Valley High School at Crooks, South Dakota. Martin married his beautiful bride, Julie Burnes on May 9, 2009 in California.

Martin spent most of his life working in South Dakota and Colorado. He worked in lawn care and property maintenance for most of his career. Martin took pride in his work and always made sure his client’s properties were taken care of just as if they were his own. He found his dream job in Colorado as a regional property and maintenance manager. Martin experienced the greatest working brotherhood here and was proud of the maintenance team that he worked with in Colorado, Arizona and Nevada.

He and Julie began sharing their time between Colorado and South Dakota to be near family in 2022. Martin passed away on June 23, 2022 at the Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls.

Martin loved spending time with his grandchildren and road tripping to visit family with Julie. He collected coins and sports cards. He was an avid race fan and enjoyed watching sprint car races. Martin liked music, especially songs and bands from the 1980’s and his children and grandchildren heard plenty of his music over the years.

Grateful for having shared in his life is his wife, Julie; nine children, Brett (Tori), Brittney, Bradley (Amanda), Stevie (Nick), Jordan, Samantha (Caleb), Brooke (Jacob), Andrew, and Danielle (Jaden); fourteen grandchildren, Ashton, Jackson, Ayden, Jerzey, Rylan, Kayden, Carsyn, Tyleigh, Dreshaun, Oakley, Tenzin, Amarius, Ollie and Lyric; siblings, Mike Hood, Amy Hood, Becky (DJ) Skiles, Bronzette Hood and Heaven (Zane) Brunk; step-mother, Elaine Hood; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gary and Sandra; and grandparents.
