On July 28, 2026, Margo Rae Lail of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away peacefully at home, enveloped in the love of her family.
Margo began her journey on October 2, 1956, born to Leo Wesley Campbell Sr. and Carol Christine Campbell (Odegaard). A lifelong resident of Sioux Falls, she cultivated her love for nature at Southeast Technical College, where she earned a degree in horticulture.
Family was the cornerstone of Margo’s life. From her first marriage to Micheal Freeman, she was blessed with two daughters, Billie Jo and Brandy. She later wed Vernon Lail, and their union brought her youngest daughter, Megan, into the world. Margo’s life was rich with simple pleasures; she was an avid reader, loved gardening, camping, and creating memories on family vacations. Her happiest moments were those spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, as well as sharing laughter over coffee with her dearest lifelong friend, Nancy.
She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her daughters, Billie Jo Freeman (Chad Thompson), Brandy Freeman (Josh Quinnell) of Burnsville, MN, and Megan Lail (Nick Mitchell); her adored grandchildren, Katrina (James Blackburn), Chaya, Star, Riley, River, and Evelyn; and her great-grandson, Hudson. Her memory lives on in her siblings, Craig, Tammi, Tracy, and Wade; her devoted friend, Nancy Lang-Kjelden; and many loving friends and relatives.
Greeting her in rest are her parents, Leo Sr. and Carol, and her brother, Leo Jr.
Margo exemplified unconditional kindness and unwavering strength. She taught everyone around her the true meaning of resilience, compassion, and courage, and her spirit will continue to inspire those she left behind.
