Lora Lea Cady was born on the 8th of July in 1958 to Darlene Shakstad and Eugene Cady. She was the youngest and only girl of the Cady family, growing up with her three older brothers, Gary, Steve and Chuck, to guide her through the world. And through the world she went! Traveling to many places, going on many adventures and gaining so many wonderful life long friends along the way. She lived in places like California and Colorado until she found herself back in Sioux Falls.
Sioux Falls is where she spent a majority of her life, growing up, going to Emerson Elementary, Axtell Middle School and the original Washington High School. Lora earned an associates degree through Southeast Vocational School. She worked at Sioux Valley Hospital and later drove a concrete mixing truck. Lora then went to work at Yellow Freight where she also met her life long partner, Mark Boyum. They had met when they were just kids but got together officially in 1993 and were together until his passing in 2021. They had one child, Annie Boyum, and Lora gained two amazing kids from Mark, Zach Boyum and Dulci Bravo; and three loving grandchildren, Camden, Zemirah and Caradyn; two wonderful daughter-in-laws, Christine Boyum and Theresa Bravo. She will also be loving remembered by her amazing brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws and many wonderful nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins and dear friends.
In her 67 terrific years she spent earth-side, Lora enjoyed hobbies such as gardening, baking, painting, photography, caring for her pets, traveling to the hills or the twin cities, or just simply laying in the warm sun. She loved spending time with friends and family. She loved and cared for so many, always wanting to help in any way she could. Often times you could spot her in a crowd of people being right there to be the biggest supportive cheerleader. She was loved by many far and wide, may she rest peacefully knowing her loving spirit will be carried through the people she held close to her heart.
Loras celebration of life will take place the 24th of January 2026 at 1pm at Chapel Hill. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to an animal shelter, Metavivor for metastatic breast cancer research or environmental research non-profits such as Friends of The Big Sioux or Spearfish Hatchery. ”
