Sioux Falls

Lloyd Thomas “Tom” Weisbrook, 71, went home to heaven on October 23, 2026, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, following multiple battles with cancer.

Born October 25, 1954, in Pasadena, Texas, to Lloyd Thomas Weisbrook Sr. and Betty Heinrich Weisbrook, Tom grew up in Davenport, Iowa with his father and graduated from Davenport Central High School. A talented athlete, he played baseball and football and was drafted by the Oakland A’s before continuing his education and playing baseball at Florida Junior College in Jacksonville.

Photography was Tom’s lifelong passion. An award-winning landscape photographer for more than 40 years, he captured the beauty of places across the United States with creativity, patience and a remarkable eye for light and color.

Tom built a career as a civil engineering designer, working for firms including B&G Engineering and Kimley-Horn. Outside of work, he enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing and traveling, often with a camera close at hand.

Tom met Kim, the love of his life, in Houston in 1976. They reconnected in 2018 and married in February 2020, sharing a love of travel, photography and discovering beautiful places together. They settled in the Sioux Falls area in 2023 and treasured their adventures and time with one another. A man of Christian faith, Tom faced his cancer battles with Kim by his side as his devoted wife, companion and caregiver. His life was enriched by the people he loved and the beauty he found through his lens.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Kim Murphy Weisbrook; brother, Craig Weisbrook; daughter, Bonnie Murray; aunt, Mary Hendricks; numerous cousins; and many cherished friends. A memorial celebrating Tom’s life will be held at a later date.
