Lindsay Markwed

November 6, 1984 — April 14, 2020

Lindsay Markwed was born to Earl and Monica Markwed on November 6, 1984 in Brookings, South Dakota.  She was raised in Aurora, South Dakota and graduated from Brookings High School.

After school, Lindsay worked at Falcon Plastics, Daktronics, various hotels, and cared for the elderly.  She especially enjoyed her time caring for the elderly due her loving, caring spirit.  She would often talk of her clients fondly and one could see how much she enjoyed hearing their stories.

Lindsay become a mother to her daughter Amelie Marie in 2006.  She loved Amelie with her whole heart and they share many special memories, including attending Arts in the Park together, shopping and getting their nails done.

Lindsay’s life was full of adventure, creativity and love.  She loved everyone unconditionally and compassionately and opened her arms to everyone.  She was passionate about art and could often be found painting or writing poetry.  She was a beautiful writer who was able to express her raw feelings and her unique view of the world.  She also enjoyed antiquing as she adored unique treasures and the past.  Lindsay also loved to travel and her adventures allowed her to visit places she longed to see, such as California and New York.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Amelie; her parents, Earl and Monica Markwed of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Eric Markwed (Stephanie) of Aurora, SD; sister, Audra Kulm (Joshua) of Sioux Falls, SD; nephew Levi Kulm and nieces Claire Markwed and Adelina Kulm as well many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Earl Sr. and Angeline Markwed and Lavern and Bertha Shillingstad; aunts, Mary Ann Shillingstad, Verna Shillingstad and Irene Shillingstad; an uncle, David Ries; and cousins, Tonya Miller and Keith Kindle.

Rest in peace, Lindsay.  You will always be missed and loved dearly.
