Kurt Wallace

Kurt Christopher Wallace, 53, of Lake Preston, SD passed away on February 18th, 2023 at Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center of complications from multiple myeloma. 

Kurt was born on April 4th, 1969 to Robert (Bob) Wallace and Louise Cain (Lensegrav) in Lemmon, SD. Kurt went to school in Lemmon and Hettinger, ND where he was was involved in sports and shenanigans with his buddies. After graduating from high school, Kurt studied auto body at WyoTech in Laramie, WY. Kurt worked a variety of different jobs utilizing his degree, but his favorite was painting race cars, drag race and derby cars for his friends. 

Kurt met his wife Carolyn Songer at the Powderhorn drive thru, and very quickly decided they needed to go steady. They were married at Shadehill Lake on August 31st, 1991, and had four beautiful children come from that union. Kurt truly loved each of his kids, and foster kiddos too. Kurt was the happiest grandpa ever to his two granddaughters who had his heart, his princess Jerika and precious Scout. 

Kurt enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and sitting by the campfire. He made friends easily and thought of them like family. Kurt was a community man and made sure to take care of his neighbors, if he had something he could give for a cause he did. 

Grateful to have shared his life are his wife Carolyn Wallace; daughters Kaylee (Kenton) MacArthur, Kendra Wallace, and Kyann (Garrett) Buchanan; son Christopher Wallace, grandaughters Jerika Stabler and Scout MacArthur; mother Louise Cain, dad Bob Wallace, sister Carla Wallace, nephew Cory Kotek, in-laws Vic and Connie Erlacher, many foster brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, and friends. 

Kurt was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Robert Lensegrav, Hanna and George Iversen, and paternal grandparents Robert and Gladys Wallace, step-father Jack Cain, nephew Kylin Kotek. 

Services will be held in the future in Arlington and Lemmon.
