Jilane Mable (Jensen) Torgerson was born on April 5, 1944 in Watertown, SD, the daughter of Arthur and Dorothy (Thompson) Jensen. The family was from Badger and later moved to Brookings where they resided until 1959 when they moved to Sioux Falls. Jilane met the love of her life when she ran out of gas and Edwin, who just happened to be at Art’s service station came to her rescue! For Jilane it was love at first sight and she married Edwin on April 14, 1962 at Grace Lutheran Church.
Ed and Jilane lived a nomadic life for a few years until 1971 when they moved to a farm in Canton. In 1985, Ed and Jilane built a home together on an acreage 2 miles south of Worthing and remained there until 2017 when they moved to a townhome in Sioux Falls.
For more than 20 years, Jilane and Ed enjoyed spending time at their camper at Platte Creek, where they loved camping, fishing, boating, and making memories with their children and grandchildren.
Jilane enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, collecting bells and finding a good sale! She loved playing Dominoes and Bolo and according to some, her and Ed had their own rules!
She is survived by her husband, Edwin; Two Daughters Jodean (John) Scott of East Bend, NC and Julie (David) Ritter of Prescott, AZ. Grandchildren Joshua (Leola) Scott of Sarasota, FL, Meg (Frank) Scott-Besio of Bradenton, Fl. Tayler (Molly) Sundermann of Kansas City, KS; Rylee(Tessa) Sundermann of Rapid City, SD. Great grandchildren Isaac (Kat), Bella, Alecia, Mark, Dawson, Anya, Arthur and Lilly. Two siblings Lorrin Jensen of Sioux Falls, SD and Doreen (Dave) Wilson of Grove Port, OH and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Jilane was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Dorothy, a brother Leon; a son LeRoy and her favorite dog Squirt.
