James "Larry" Sroufe

James Lawrence “Larry” Sroufe, was born on May 8, 1941 in Ohio, the son of Paul and Ethel (Harmon) Sroufe

He has been known to family and friends his whole life as "Larry". He was born in Dayton,Ohio, as the only son of Paul and Ethel Marie Sroufe. He has been a resident of Sioux Falls,S.D. since 2000.

Larry has been the loving husband to Rose Marie for 66 years. He is the father of two, David and Christina; the grandfather of two, Cici and Lorin; and the great-grandfather of one, Ayden James.

Larry has never known a stranger. He was a people-person and would have a conversation with anyone. He was a wonderful, kind man who, over the years, has helped many people with a hand-up or a hand-out, never expecting anything in return.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force as a medic, primarily on the flight line. After leaving the Service he entered the business world in sales and marketing for over 45 plus years for two major corporations in management and as a national sales training manager. After retirement he started his own business known as Your Best Address, a mail forwarding company.

Larry was an excellent photographer, even with his own darkroom for a while. He enjoyed bowling, and reading on various subjects including history and military battles. He also has written various published articles. To the amazement of family and friends, he has always been a wealth of information and trivia on a broad range of topics. The kids called him" The Answer Man". He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life.

He was a firm believer in his Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, into whose arms he passed away on September 14, 2026 at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Larry will be so greatly missed. May he rest in peace.
