Gary Sullivan

Gary Wilfred Sullivan passed away on August 15, 2026 at Ava's House in Sioux Falls after many years with heart disease.

Gary was born on September 17th, 1952, to Wilfred and Leona Sullivan.  He was raised in Fulton, South Dakota. Gary attended Notre Dame High School in Mitchell and graduated from Hanson High School in 1971. He began working in Sioux Falls with a tire company.

Gary operated his own company as a housing contractor in the 1980s  and 1990s. He then moved to Denver, Colorado where he started a business buying, selling and transporting live bison. He was forced into early retirement due to his heart condition. He moved to several communities in retirement, Estes Park, CO, Messa, AZ, St. James MN and finally back to Sioux Falls.

He will be remembered by siblings, Carolyn and Calvin Reiling, Jackie and Bernie Behounek, Theresa and David Presto, Randy and Sandy Sullivan, Helen Sullivan Brown, Valerie and Wyatt Peck, Kevin and Maria Sullivan, Lourie and David Yip, as well as his son Derick Sullivan LO, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Doug.
