Darryl was born on November 23, 1942 in Centerville, South Dakota, the son of Lester and Antoinette (Bruflat) Verley. He graduated from Centerville High School.
As a young man, Darryl worked with his father in the family well drilling business. Darryl married Dorothy Jeanne Finch in 1964 and they lived in Centerville. In addition to well drilling, Darryl used his skills to drill holes for seismology work in the oil fields.
In 1989, Darryl moved to Brandon where he lived for several years before moving to Sioux Falls. He operated his single car, Trivia Cab Company. He and Jeanne began working for Skogen Property Management over twenty years ago. Darry also had ventures in the restaurant and handyman industries.
Darryl passed away on October 17, 2023 at the Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls, from complications related to Parkinsons Disease.
Darryl enjoyed hunting for pheasants and geese and was a member of the Turkey Creek Gun Club for many years. He loved playing cards, especially Pinochle. He was a great cook and had a large collection of music that he listened to at home and in the car.
Darryl is survived by his wife, Jeanne; two children, Micheal Verley and his special friend, Jennifer Chu, and Jolene Wieneke and her husband, Joe; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Nick), Danielle, Malia (Tyler), Kayla, Megan, Devin and Sarah; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Peg Bailey. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Josh; and a brother, Gerald.
