It is with heavy hearts that we share that our beloved brother and uncle, Daniel Ernest McCoy, passed away on October 11, 2026, at the age of 77.
Dan was a longtime and well-known member of the Marshall community, where many knew him through his work at McCoy’s Tax Consultant and McCoy’s ATA Taekwondo. To us, though, he was simply "Uncle Dan." He had a big personality, strong opinions, a curious mind, and a remarkable way of knowing someone everywhere he went. He loved taekwondo, science fiction, Disney, good food, and sharing the things he loved and discovered with those around him. Most of all, Dan showed up for people. He was an exceptionally generous and giving uncle who treated his nieces and nephews like his own children. He personally taught his nieces taekwondo in their youth, instilling respect, self-control, and discipline—qualities that shaped their confidence and stayed with them throughout their lives. Countless fond memories were made with him over the years, including special trips taking his nieces and nephews to Disney—a place he truly loved. He was immensely proud of his family and had a special way of making each person feel seen, valued, and important. Through both his businesses and his personal life, Dan touched countless hearts and left a lasting imprint on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Dan is survived by his brother, Robert Joseph McCoy (Sonja Marie Underhill McCoy) as well as 2 nephews, 11 nieces, 10 great-nieces, and 6 great-nephews, along with extended family, dear friends, former students, and clients who will miss him deeply. He was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy McCoy; his mother, June Virginia Sens McCoy; his brothers, LeRoy McCoy Jr. and Timothy Martin McCoy; and his sister, Corneilia Elizabeth McCoy Leiker.
Celebration of Life Information regarding his celebration of life and service details will be shared as arrangements are finalized.. Rest in peace, Uncle Dan. You will be missed.
