Carol Walleen

Carol (Mehlhoff) Walleen, 74, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on June 28th, 2025 in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday July 19,2025 at Mission Evangelical Free Church in Wilton, ND with Pastor Dave Jenkins officiating.

Carol was born in Garrison, ND to Harvey and Luella (Wagner) Mehlhoff on July 18th 1950. She grew up on a farm and loved taking a walk in the pasture or riding her horse Dynamo. She participated in barrel racing. Her love of animals especially dogs originated here.

Carol was married to Charley Miner with whom she had two children, Troy and Wanda. She later divorced and was married to Joe Walleen, Jr. and they had a daughter, Melissa.

She was a devoted mother who gave her all for her kids. She may not have been an overly affectionate person, but she expressed her love for you with her cooking and baking. Carol made excellent banana bread peanut butter bars, crock pot beans, and potato salad just to name a few.

She always liked putting on a pot of coffee and breaking out the photo albums. She loved reading books, crocheting and spending time with her dogs; there was not a time when she did not have at least one dog.

Carol is survived by her loving children, Troy (Leah) Miner, Wanda Miner and Melissa Walleen, all of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Adalea, Luella, Iver and Archer. Carol is preceded in death by husbands, Charley Miner, Joseph Walleen Jr; parents, Harvey and Luella; sisters, Karen Garrett and Marlys Mehlhoff.

She will remain forever in the hearts of her siblings Linda (Dale), Diane, Sally, Nancy and Dean (Sherri).

The family of Carol wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Good Samaritan Society for the excellent care they provided. Also Dr. Singh and Dr. Vetter for their caring nature and treatment for Carol.
