Carol Ann Tarrell

Carol Ann Tarrell, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister-in-law and friend, passed away peacefully January 23, 2021 at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Carol was born June 10, 1948 in Hudson, South Dakota to her parents Norman and Laverna (Steeneck) Pilla. She joined the family consisting of two brothers, Lawrence (Larry) and Lynn and was later joined by a younger sister Connie.

Carol attended school in Hudson, South Dakota and graduated from high school in l966. She lived in the Alcester and Beresford areas most of her adult life. On January 8, 1970 she married Joseph Tunell and they were blessed with two sons, Todd and Travis. Following her husband’s death, Carol worked many jobs to support her sons including working as a waitress, housekeeper, babysitter, and baker at Casey’s.

February 14, 1992, Carol married her best friend Bill Tarrell in Vermillion, South Dakota. They made their home in Beresford and worked together diligently to support the family and raise her two sons.

Carol is survived by her husband, Bill; two sons Todd and Travis and a grandson Tyler Tunell all living in Colorado; brother Larry Pilla of Alcester, SD; brother-in-law Tom Tarrell of Monroe; sisters-in-law Sindy Tarrell of Monroe, Sylvia Hauck of Dickinson, ND, Laura Dziadek of Freeman and May Schaefer of Hartford; nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Connie and brother, Lynn.
