Obituary

Bul Kuek Biar AKA Mawet, born on January 1, 1980, in Sudan, passed away on March 10, 2026, in Seattle, Washington. He was the beloved son of Kuek Biar and Apiu Lueth.

Bul was proudly known as one of the Lost Boys of Sudan, a generation of young men whose lives were shaped by hardship, displacement, and extraordinary resilience. He spent part of his early years in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, where he attended high school. Despite the many challenges he faced, Bul remained determined to build a meaningful and hopeful future.

When he moved to the United States, Bul first settled in Jacksonville, Florida, where he lived for 15 years. During that time, he built lasting friendships and strong community ties. He later relocated to St-Joseph, Missouri, where he found stable employment and continued working hard to support his family. Eventually, he made his home in Seattle, Washington, and he worked in Alaska, as a manufacturing production supervisor until the time of his passing.

Bul was known for having one of the biggest hearts. He was deeply compassionate and always did his best to uplift others. He never wanted to disappoint anyone and carried himself with humility, strength, and quiet determination. His kindness and generosity touched countless lives. ❤️

He found great joy in spending time with friends and family, attending church services, and participating in community gatherings. Bul valued connection, faith, and unity, and he brought warmth and laughter wherever he went.

Bul is survived by his children: Achol Bul Kuek, Deng Bul Kuek, Kuek Bul Kuek, and Mayom Bul Kuek. He is also survived by his mother, Apiu Lueth; his brother, Majak Kuek Biar and sister, Agau Kuek Biar; as well as one niece and four nephews.

Bul will be remembered for his strength, resilience, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family. His journey from Sudan to the United States stands as a powerful testimony of courage, perseverance, and hope. 🌿

May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
