Obituary

Bryan Kenneth Bombeck, age 60, passed away September 14, 2026, comforted by family, in his home in Sioux Falls. He was born February 21, 1966, in Sioux Falls, to Kenneth and Linda (Kryger) Bombeck. Bryan grew up in Brandon and Sioux Falls area and was happy to call himself a “native son”. On their Twenty Fifth Anniversary, April 23, 2023, Bryan married his soul mate Abby Christine Menke. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, two beautiful children and a sincere affection for their extended families.

Known by his former classmates and coworkers for his infectious humor and candid observations, Bryan was a man who really enjoyed being with people. He excelled at many things and took great pride in the quality of his work and his record of safety in his job place. Friend or employer, if Bryan said he would help you, you knew that he would be there! He was an unpretentious man and felt his greatest accomplishment was his successful thriving family. He was proud that he could provide a pleasant home and everything his family needed to be comfortable, happy and well supported. As a couple they enjoyed shooting a good game of pool, playing cards, family reunions, and he enjoyed motorcycle touring with Abby or one of the children. He liked outings to enjoy warm days playing on his Jet Ski with friends at the area beaches. As a young man Bryan enjoyed playing softball and brought his love of the game to Joselyn and his son Taylor. He was an enthusiastic coach for many seasons for both children’s teams and supported youth softball in Sioux Falls. In the fall he changed hats and was a diehard fan of the AFL Raiders and loved nothing more than the Raiders beating the Broncos, (Abby’s family’s team), on any given Sunday. These games became a multistate cheering and jeering match between all the family members. He never let Abby’s family forget Oct 24, 2010, when the Raiders beat the Bronco 59-14. Bryan had one simple goal; he wanted to be a wonderful “Dad” and a good husband. He truly achieved that goal! He was a man that guided his life with dignity, honesty, hard work and laughter up until the very end. There will be no replacing him in our hearts!

He is survived by his loving spouse, Abby Christine Menke-Bombeck, and his children Joselyn Bombeck and Taylor Bombeck, his Mother Linda (Kryger) Mader, his parents-in Law, Dennis and Ann Menke, Jon and Trish Thompson who loved him like a son, siblings, Kim Bettcher, Chad Bombeck (Brenda), Deb White, Sister-in-law, Sarah (Menke) Tharp, Bothers-in-law, Greg (Erin) Hawerlander, Darick (Janice) Thompson, and manynephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Bombeck, his sister Brenda Bombeck, his stepmother Lorna (Chipperfield) Bombeck and Sister-in-Law, Sara (Hawerlander) Lauber.
