Bernice Hage

Bernice (Bonnie) Hage passed away peacefully in her home on February 25th, 2022.

Bonnie was born and raised in Walhalla, North Dakota. She was born May 13th, 1926 to Albin and Julia Hogan. She was one of thirteen children. Her family sold their farm and moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she met Wilbur Hage, her future husband.

Bonnie and Wilbur were married June 16th, 1946. They celebrated 75 years of marriage in the summer of 2021. Bonnie and Wilbur spent many happy years raising their family in Sioux Falls. In 1969 they bought 20 acres of land near Baltic, South Dakota, fulfilling their dream of living in the country.

Bonnie was the ultimate host. Her home was open to everyone. She loved gardening, canning her produce, and feeding family and friends.
She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, kindness, and her genuine smile. She will be forever missed and loved by all who knew her. She is at peace now with her beloved husband, who passed away January 23rd, 2022.

Bonnie is survived by her three children, Charyl (Lee) Zacher, Renee (Mel) Zacher, and Sheldon Hage; grandchildren, Jamie (Julie) Zacher, Andrea (Brandon) Dahl, Nicole (Josh) Price, Melanie (Mike) Carlson, Christopher (Caitlin) Hage, Joe (Megan) Zacher, Liz (Greg) Hage; and her 10 great grandchildren; and a brother, Ralph Hogan. She is preceded in death by her husband Wilburn Hage and infant son Dwight.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 1:30 pm at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1801 S Valley View Rd. Sioux Falls, SD 57106. A visitation at the church will start at 12:30 pm and fellowship following the service.
