Audrey Kouril-Rud

Audrey Jane Kouril-Rud, 69, of Sioux Falls, SD died unexpectedly on August 8, 2026. Audrey was born on December 27, 1956 in Sioux Falls, the daughter of Fred and Coral (Kling) Kouril. Sheattended Washington High School, where she graduated in 1975. She married Jeff Rud on April 25, 2014; although they have been inseparable for the last 32 years. Their love for each other was evident to all who knew them.

Audrey’s greatest accomplishment in life was raising her 4 boys to be good men, husbands and fathers. She taught them the value of hard work and displayed such a good work ethic. She often held two jobs while also raising the boys. She waitressed at Kirk’s Family Restaurant and Chris’ Grill, operated an in-home daycare, and later worked at and retired from Raven Industries. After retirement, she loved to go “junkin’” and kept busy stocking her booths at I-29 Antiques, 605 Antiques and Dakota Plains Antiques.

Audrey and Jeff enjoyed road trips to Missouri, Florida, and Minneapolis to visit family and enjoyed adventures and antiquing along the way. She made many trips to Disney World with the grandkids, trying to get all of them there at some point. Audrey was the best at caring for others and spoiling the grandkids. She loved attending their ballgames and activities. There’s not much that brought her more joy than to be with her grandkids.

Audrey was a life-long member of Memorial Lutheran Church. She was baptized, attended Sunday School, and was confirmed at the original church, located at 11th Street and Willow Ave.

Audrey is survived by husband, Jeff Rud, of the home; sons Wade (Gina) Kouril of Higginsville, MO; Eric (Sadie) Kouril of Sioux Falls; Adam (Cheryl) Kouril of Sioux Falls; Aron (Stacy) Kouril of Brandon, SD; Sean Rud of Harrisburg, SD; and Aaron (Samantha) Rud of Sioux Falls; one brother, Richard (Joyce) Kouril of Otsego, MN; 18 grandchildren with one on the way, Dawson, Jackson and Claudia Kouril of Higginsville, MO; Ella, Saxon, Ezra and Sicelia Kouril, Wyatt, Aidan and Audreana Kouril, all of Sioux Falls; Kennedy, Carter, and Kobey Kouril of Brandon, SD; Jacob, Blakely, Lena, and Faye Rud of Harrisburg, SD; and Reese Rud of Sioux Falls; one nephew, Dallas Kouril of Big Lake, MN and one niece, Kryssa Kouril of Monticello, MN. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Virgil Kouril, and mother-in-law, Faye Rud.
