Alan Zakrzewski

July 26, 1955 — June 22, 2024

Sioux Falls

Alan Zakrzewski, 69, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota passed away at the Ava's Hospice House due to complications from renal cancer on June 22nd, 2024. Alan fought hard to stay with his loved ones and he will be deeply missed.

Alan was born to Leonard and Margaret in Sioux Falls South Dakota on July 26th, 1955. He grew up with his elder brother Steve as well as younger brothers Dan, Todd, Eric, and James.

Stubborn but kind-hearted from the start, Alan graduated high school and tried a few different occupations before joining Eggar Steele where he worked for over 30 years. Alan quickly moved up the ranks and proudly served as a union steward for the Boilermakers Union for most of his time at Eggars. He fell in love and married twice, having two children with Karen (Nick and Jessica) and one with Lori (Lacey). Over the years Alan developed a love for travel and tried to at least make a trip out to wherever his oldest daughter was living each year. While a regular golf player most of his life, he stopped playing after a while but never lost his fondness for watching the sport, much to his family's chagrin. His first granddaughter was born seven years ago and his true joy in life became spending time with her.

Alan's warmth, love, and kidding nature is carried on by his brothers, his children Nick, Jessica, and Lacey, as well as his grandchildren Lyncoln and Sophia (birth expected in July), as well as his extended family and friends. Proceeding him in peace were his father, Leonard Zakrzewski and his mother Margaret Andrews.

Alan will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. To honor Alan's wishes, there will be no formal service. A celebration of life will be planned and the date announced by the family at a later time. In memory of Alan, please consider donating to your local hospice, the Avera Dougherty Hospice House foundation, or the American Cancer Society.
