Dorothy Helen Jensen was born on January 6, 1919 in Hayti, SD to Peter & Florence (Sotka) Thompson. She was married to Arthur Peter Jensen on December 18th, 1941. They made their home in Badger, SD where Arthur owned his own service station. They soon moved to Watertown, SD where Dorothy owned and operated her own restaurant. She was famous for her homemade pies. In 1960, they then moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where Dorothy owned and operated Dot?s Caf on east 8th Street. In her later years, she worked as a lead housekeeper for a local motel chain until 1992 when she retired to care for her family. Grateful for sharing her life are her children Lorrin Jensen of Sioux Falls, SD, Jilane Torgerson (Edwin) of Worthing, SD, and Doreen Wilson (Dave) of Groveport, Ohio. Grandchildren Jodean (John) Scott, East Bend NC; Julie Sundermann, Omaha NE, Amy (Steve) Wall, Groveport, Ohio, Nicole (Ed) Glanville, Jacksonville, FL. Great Grandchildren Josh (Leola), Meg (Dave), Isaac, Bella, Dawson, Tayler, Rylee, Tyler, Prescious and Vivianna. Dorothy was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She always enjoyed baking and cooking along with attempting new recipes. She taught us all how to play poker but no one could play without bringing their piggy bank. Her favorite activity was Tuesday night BINGO?growing up we all knew if our birthday fell on a Tuesday we would have to celebrate with Grandma a different day! She was preceeded in death by her husband Arthur, her son Leon Arthur (stillborn), grandson LeRoy Torgerson, brothers Kenneth, Delwyn, Dwayne, Darwyn, Marvin, LaVern, and Russell; and her sisters Gladys, Merlayne, Lorraine, Genelle, Phyllis, and Delores.
