Loretta Harmsen

The Lord called Loretta home on January 10, 2010. She was born December 1, 1919 in Edgerton, MN. to Henry and Nellie (Post) Vande Kamp. She worked on the family farm and various jobs to help the family earn a living through the depression. She moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan during the war, working in factories and later met and Married Cornelius (Neal) Harmsen in Holland, MI. on June 25th, 1949. They settled in Rock Rapids, IA., later moving to Sioux Falls, SD. Loretta was employed through Ravens Industries, Harold?s Photo Services and Fuji Film, retiring after 23 years of service in the film processing industry. Loretta obtained her GED later in life, having always wished she had the chance to complete her education, graduating through the Adult Learning Center of Southeast Technical Institute in 2003, at the age of 84. Grateful for having shared her life are her Children, Marcella (Lawrence) Terlisner of Minneapolis, MN, Gloria (David) Hastings of Indianapolis, IN., Kevin (Sharon) Harmsen of Buffalo, MN., and Kimberly Burkhart of Sioux Falls, SD. Grandchildren: Michael (Amy) Terlisner, Daniel (Wighelmi) Terlisner, Nathan (Arlette) Terlisner, Ryan Burkhart, Jacob and Jason Harmsen, Step Grandchildren Anthony (Lisa) Hastings, Jeff (Rachel) Hastings, Doug (Susan) Hastings. Step Great Grandchildren, Amber, Benjamin, Ian, Courtney, Evan and a great many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by: Tracy (Doug) Vande Grift of Albert Lea MN., Sue Wallin of Glenville, MN, Eva (Walter) Karsjens Hollandale, MN., Jim Vande Kamp of Mason City, IA., Sarah (John) Ekema Pella, IA., Vivie (Jim) Loverink of Hollandale, MN., Sisters in Law: Marie Vande Kamp of Rock Valley, IA., Ardie Vande Kamp and Robert Vande Zyl Altoona, IA., Leona Harmsen of Rock Rapids, IA., Ellen Stellinga of Sheldon, IA., Millie (Dale) Katt of Rock Rapids, IA;, and Brother in Law Chuck Pauzenga of Grand Rapids, MI. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Mother and Father in Law, husband Neal, Brothers Walter and Gary, Sisters Ada and Nellie, Sisters in law Char, Grace and Gert, Bother in Laws Merlin, Hip, Garrett, Jim, Clarence, George, John, Marion, Joe, Allan (Red).
