Alvin Kraft

February 2, 1920 — September 15, 2010

Alvin L. Kraft was born February 2, 1920 at Brewster, MN to Edward and Frieda (Langholz) Kraft. He was raised in northwest Iowa. Alvin left school early to help on the family farm. Alvin entered the Army and served during WW II in Alaska and the European Theater and the Aleutians Islands. Alvin married Margaret Endicott on January 15, 1950 at Glenwood, MN. He worked for the Pope County Hwy Department from 1950 until 1964. The family moved to Sioux Falls in 1965 and he worked at Larson Refrigeration. In 1969 Alvin went to work for the Minnehaha Country Club as maintenance supervisor until his retirement in 1984. Alvin was involved in the Scroll Club for many years in Sioux Falls, he was a member of the DAV and VFW and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Alvin was an avid woodworker, he played the organ for his own enjoyment and he enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes and cribbage and time playing pool with DAV friends. Alvin was 90 years old when he passed away at Avera Prince of Peace Nursing Home at Sioux Falls, SD. Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Margaret, children, Robert (Linda) Kraft, Sioux Falls, Susan (Joe) Williams, Sheldon, IA, Dorothy (Dan) Peterson, Sioux Falls; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two brothers, Vernon Kraft, Harris, IA and Burdette Kraft, Benson, MN. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Arnold, Lester and Elmer and a sister, Leona
