Vernon Marvin Bovee was born September 1, 1916 at rural Parker, South Dakota to Clyde and Maude (Sletten) Bovee. He was raised and attended country school in Turner County. He left school in 8th grade to help farm when his father became sick. Vernon married Neva Davey November 20, 1937 in Sioux Falls. They farmed in Turner County near Humboldt and Vernon also owned and operated a trucking company hauling seed corn, grain and livestock. He loved to read westerns and the library ran out of books for him to read. Vernon spent a lot of time gardening and tinkering on cars and he enjoyed camping, fishing and vacations with his family. Vernon was 94 when he passed away at Sanford Hospice Cottage on February 16, 2011. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Dennis (Jan) Bovee, Sioux Falls, and Vernette (Bob) Palmer, Lake Park, Iowa; four grandchildren, Darrin (Becky) Bovee, Tea, SD, Pamela Bovee (Matt Larson) Sioux Falls, Kimberly (Chris) Duffy, Sioux Falls and Scott Palmer, West Des Moines, Iowa; eight great grandchildren, Jamie, Michael and Tandis Bovee; Jalen, Justyce and Jaxon Voss; Bailey and Kaelynn Larson and special friend, Arleen Reuter. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Neva in 1996, sisters, Iren Berthelsen, Dorothy Luke and Marjorie Alberti and one infant grandson.
