Duane Goodroad

Duane Gail Goodroad, Son of Adney and Ada (Johnson) Goodroad, passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Center on April 16, 2011. Duane was born November 27, 1923 in rural Brookings, SD. He received his education in country schools in Brookings County and attended Brookings High School. He was married to Delila M. Boettcher on December 3, 1946. He served two years in the Army Paratroops during WW II. They lived a short time in Brookings, SD where he was employed at Ford Motor Company. Then moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1951 where he worked at John Morrell & Company for 35 years. After retiring he contracted painting and was employed as a painter at the Sioux Falls Good Samaritan Center on North Minnesota Avenue. He was a member of East Side Presbyterian Church and The American Legion Post 0015. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed bowling, golfing and making wood-crafts. He also enjoyed building and remodeling houses. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Delila, one son, Jerry, and his wife, Marge, of Glencoe, MN; one daughter, Sharon, and her husband, Marlin, of Lake Wilson, MN; three grandchildren, Shannan, Jennifer and Jeffrey; six great grandchildren, Brittani, Tommee Sue, Colton, Ellie, Anna & Adriana; His sister, Lavonne (Bonnie) and her husband, Robert Griffis, of Victorville, CA.
