Joe Mierau was born on August 24, 1950 at Yankton, South Dakota to Hugo and Leola (Schrag) Mierau. His family moved from South Dakota to Illinois and Nebraska and then settled in South Dakota. Joe worked for more than 45 years in the farming, construction and printing businesses. He was the owner and manager of Pine Hills Press in Freeman and Sioux Falls the last twenty-one years. He married Mary Ann (Doblar) Nuttbrock at Sioux Falls on October 7, 1995. Joe was 60 years old when he passed away at his home in Sioux Falls on July 12, 2001. Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Mary Ann, children, Kristi, David, Nick, Nancy and Neal; three grandchildren, Emily, Cadence and Colby. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Leola; sisters, Corrine and Carol; nephew, Mark and a grandson, Caleb. ?For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and melt into the sun?
