JoAnn Groff

September 7, 1929 — October 29, 2011

JoAnn ?Jo? Groff was born on September 7, 1929 in Sioux City, Iowa. She married Robert Groff on July 22, 1948 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Her family was the most important part of her life. Together for 63 wonderful years, JoAnn and Bob had 5 children, Kris, Kevin, Kathy, Kelley, and Kori. JoAnn lived for others. She was always there for anyone who needed an ear at any time of the day or night. She invited those who may be alone to share the holidays with her family. Bob and Jo?s home was ?Grand Central Station? to most, where anyone who walked through the door made their first stop at the refrigerator, even if they weren?t looking for anything. The welcome love that JoAnn gave to all who entered was felt by many. JoAnn had 9 grandchildren; Jenny, Michael, Angie, Erica, Jason, Lindsay, Andy, Christopher, and Josh. She had 5 great grandchildren; Cash, Cole, Emily, Ben, and Lexi whom she adored. Many cookies were decorated, many May baskets made, each stocking was perfectly placed on the stair railing each year, causing so many good memories for her entire family. Each year, a giant fresh Christmas tree welcomed everyone with hundreds of keepsake ornaments that made tradition for each member of the family. If you would ask any member of the family, Mom?s home made chicken and noodles could not be replicated by anyone. Although everyone ?tried? to make them, they never tasted quite the same. With so many children in the family, there was never a time where an animal was not taking up residence. Her dogs were a big part of her life. Jo loved all animals, feeding the squirrels, birds, and the baby bunnies that ran through her flowers. She made many friends throughout her life, and even though she did not see them often, they always remember her kind heart, her cheerful voice, and her attitude for acceptance. She will be greatly missed by anyone who knew her. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend that anyone could have. She was preceded in death by her parents Opal and Julian, a sister Kay, a daughter Kathy, and a grandson Christopher. The family wishes to thank everyone for their loving care and concern. Jo, we love you, and you will always be in our hearts.
