Connie Meyer

Constance Meyer was born August 5, 1936 at Sioux Falls, the daughter of Sidney and Evelyn (Pruner) Harding. She was raised in Sioux Falls and attended Washington High School. Connie married Donald Meyer on November 20, 1953 at Luverne, Minnesota. They lived in Sioux Falls where they raised their family. They moved to Brandon in 1973 where on July 25, 2010 they proclaimed a "Don and Connie Meyer Day" because of their service to the community. Connie operated a cake and craft business out of her home for over 40 years and also was a Watkins distributor. Connie's cakes were the centerpiece for many occasions such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, graduations and holidays. She also loved cooking for the holidays for family and friends. Everyone was welcome at her table. She had an artistic love for ceramics and made hundreds of Old World Santas and Nativity sets including one that has been on display at her church, Emanuel Baptist, for over 20 years. She was employed with RGIS for 10 years and worked in the bakeries at HyVee, Randalls and Albertsons for a numerous years. Connie also volunteered at McKennan Hospital for three years. Grateful for having shared in her life are four children and their spouses, Therressa and Steven Hurley, Sioux Falls, Ronald and Mary Meyer, Austin, MN, Robert and Joan Meyer of Garretson, Jolene and Thomas Kujawa of Brandon; seven grandchildren, Andrea, Donald, Ashley, Andrew, Shauna, Christopher, Nathan; six great-grandchildren, Isaac, Anna, Miles, Ella, Emmy and Marcus; three siblings, Donna Faller, Sioux Falls, James "Jim" Harding, Seattle, WA, Henry "Hank" Harding, Florissant, CO. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don, in 2010; a daughter, Evelyn; and a sister, Mary Jo Lutness
