Jeanne Nelson

Jeanne Marie Nelson went home to the Lord on May 6, 2012. Jeanne was born in Wilmot, SD May 22, 1934 to Henry Cramer and Alberta Slick-Cramer. Alberta passed away in childbirth and Jeanne was raised by her maternal grandparents Anna and Jay Slick. She grew up in Wilmot and graduated high school there. Jeanne married Howard L Nelson Sr December 1st, 1961 in Brownsville, TX after she was widowed by her previous husband. Together they raised 7 children. She was a resident of Good Samaritan Center for 8 years. Jeanne dedicated her life to raising her children and taking care of numerous foster children. She actively sold Avon for over 25 years. Jeanne loved to listen to music and was a self ?taught piano player. Grateful for sharing in her life are her children: Eugene (Sylvia) Dorsett of Sioux Falls, SD, James Dorsett of Houston, TX., Darva (Gary) Rye of Gillette, WY., Marcia Driscoll of Worthington, MN., Howie (Cheryl) Nelson of Sioux Falls, SD and Maria (Wayne) Graves of Rapid City, SD Extended family Dan (Mary) Akkerman and their daughters of Sioux Falls, SD 13 grandchildren 17 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.Jeanne was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, grandparents, parents, son David, and Brother Donnie Cramer. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Sanford Pulmonary Staff but especially Heather and Rachael for their kindness and care while Jeanne was in hospice.
