Minnie Houg

Minnie Houg, 90, passed away on May 8, 2012 at the Sanford Hospice Cottage. Minnie was born on August 4, 1921 in Sioux Falls, SD. Minnie married Charles ?Chuck? Houg on February 5, 1948. Minnie was employed at John Morrell & Co., Raven Industries and EconoFoods in Sioux Falls. Minnie enjoyed many activities in life, including puzzles and knitting items for her family. Minnie raised 5 children, and enjoyed being a homemaker for them and Chuck. Holidays were the most exciting time of the year for Minnie, having family over to her house for some of her home cooked meals, which often included lefsa. Minnie was a Lady of the Moose Lodge in Sioux Falls, and never missed an opportunity to share a dance with her favorite partner, most often, her husband Chuck. Minnie is survived by four children: Gwen Houg of Sioux Falls, SD; Lynn Houg (Rita) of Columbia, MO; Tamie Jewell (Lee) of Tucson, AZ; Craig Houg (Melanie) of Sioux Falls SD; a son-in-law, Dick Gustaf of Renner, SD; 9 Grandchildren: Jason Houg, Jacob Houg, Randi Houg, Michael Gustaf, Kristin Dahl, Sherry Wynn, Eric Jewell, Melissa Anderson and Steve Houg; 15 Great-Grandchildren: Brandt, Colman, Parker, Britton, Harmony, Chloe, Thomas, Hunter, Justice, Noah, Jordan, Callum, Carter, Mason and Tatum; Three Siblings: Fern Getting of Sioux Falls, Erma Linton of Sioux Falls and Betty Mettler of Sioux Falls. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Houg, a daughter Dody Gustaf, one sister and two brothers. The Women of the Moose will have ceremonial presentation in Minnie?s honor at 6pm, Sunday, at the visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Women of the Moose.
