Harriet Lovseth

Harriet was born at Centerville, South Dakota on October 25, 1911 to John and Anna ( Nupen) Solheim. The family moved to the Parker area when she was a small child. She attended rural grade school and graduated from Parker High School. Harriet attended Dakota State at Madison, SD and Augustana College and Minnesota University at Minneapolis, MN. She taught in rural schools in Turner County and public schools at Dell Rapids and Yankton, SD. Harriet married Irvin Junis Lovseth on June 23, 1946. He was a pastor and they served parishes in North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota. They moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1980 where Irvin served as visitation pastor for Our Savior?s Lutheran Church and Harriet often accompanied him as they visited church members. Harriet was active in the work of the women of the church throughout the years, conducting Bible studies and giving talks on Bible personalities for various groups. She was a member of Sioux Valley Auxiliary, Augustana Auxiliary, Our Savior?s Lutheran circles and Friendship Club. Irvin passed away in 1988. In May of 1990, Harriet married Joseph Oyan. He passed away in 1991. Harriet lived at Bethany Meadows in Brandon for over three years. Harriet was 100 years old when she passed away on June 21, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls. Grateful for sharing her life are her daughters, Margaret Joy and husband, Ron Hegge of Renner, SD, Ellen Marie and husband Art Aadland of Valley Springs, SD; one brother, Robert Solheim of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Aaron (Jody) Aadland and their children, Soren, Macy and Jonah; Sally (Lathrop) Preston and their children, Laria, Charla and Zara; Bonita (Kalin) Taskor and their children, Alexander and Emma; Mark (Shontelle) Hegge and their children, Addison and Everett; Maren (Steve) Reepmeyer.
