Janice ?Spring? was born October 1, 1943 at Eagle Butte, South Dakota, the daughter of Cyril Benoist and Evelyn Whitney. She graduated from high school and attended college. Spring was known for her innate artistic ability through the medium of wood carving. She created works of art symbolizing life experiences, heritage, and Sioux Culture. She was known to her children and friends for her deep meaningful hugs and sunshine-like smile. Spring loved life and always gave it all for what she believed. Janice (Spring) Benoist died Friday evening on July 6, 2012 after her battle with cancer. Today, she won the greatest race; the race for heaven and now knows The Grace of God. She will be missed, but always remembered.
