Clement was born Jan. 16, 1923 in the church parsonage located in Lynd Township, Lyon County, Mn. He grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School. Clement worked at Sioux Tire & Battery for a few years the then enlisted in the US Coast Guard. He served as a Gunners Mate 2nd Class in the Coast Guard during WWII. Clement married Ruth Feldman Nov. 19, 1950 in Luverne, Mn. He worked for Iseman Homes for a number of years as a deliver driver. He then owned and operated Standard Gas stations in Sioux Falls. When he sold the gas stations, Clement work with his brother and sister-in-law at Sioux Falls Towel and Linen. In the later years, he was a computer analyst for Volunteers of America. He enjoyed reading, camping and fishing. He was very interested in computers and built his own PC long before they became readily available in the consumer market. Survived by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Betty (Glen) Vant, Canton, SD, son-in-law, Todd Schmidt (Maggie); three grandchildren, Eva Schmidt, Jasmin Vant and Tom Vant. He is preceded in death by his parents, four children, Dawn, Valerie, Tom and an infant son; and four siblings, Paul, Mike, Billy and Velma.
