Cyril Tebben

Cyril was born October 20, 1922 near Alvord, Iowa, the son of August and Anna (Mackel) Tebben. His family moved to a farm in Springdale Township in 1930. Cyril attended Simmons Country School. He married Phyllis Poppenga on December 11, 1945 in Sioux Falls. They farmed in the Harrisburg, Tea and Lennox areas for many years. Cyril married Ruby Niewald on August 25, 1978. Cyril worked with his brother, Francis, operating Tebben Spray Service. He later worked at Messenger Tire Company and Edwards Brake and Alignment before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and watching Western movies. In retirement, he wintered in Florida for several years. Cyril was always happy to help Duane and Lynn Johnson with field work. He is survived by his wife, Ruby; five children, Gloria Hutson, Sioux Falls, Charles Tebben, Sioux Falls, Steve (Mary) Tebben, Whitewood, SD, Mary (Roger) Bly, Sioux Falls, Michael Tebben, Sioux Falls; 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; a brother, Francis Tebben, Harrisburg. He is preceded in death by his parents; three children, Linda, Brian and Larry; and siblings, Roy, Isadore, Sylvester and Florence.
