Elaine Bachtell

Elaine was born Nov. 14, 1928 at Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Reinhold and Katie Heckenlaible. She married Orville Bachtell on Aug. 2, 1947 at Luverne, MN. They lived in Sioux Falls where they raised their family. Elaine worked at the ArKota Ballroom, Dixie?s Bake Shop and the Good Samaritan Center. She enjoyed baking and gardening. She loved to sit out on her porch where she would chat with friends and family and keep an eye on the neighborhood. She is survived by her children, Linda (Kenneth) Wright, Penny Wallace (Jeff), JoAnn Bachtell (Dave), Robert (Lorna) Bachtell, Patty (Robert) Strum, Cindy (Glenn) Kenyon; 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 10 step-great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; a special niece, Kathy East. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Jim, and grandson, Vernon Estenson.
