Victor was born August 23, 1929 to Victor and Edith (Nelson) Mortenson at Estherville, Iowa. He graduated from Estherville High in 1948. He joined the National Guard in 1951 and served until 1953. He served in Bat. C 194th Field Artillery during the Korean Conflict. He attended Gustavus Adolphus College and graduated in 1957. Victor began his work with the IRS in South Dakota in 1957. Victor married Ann Marlene Hove on February 14, 1959 and they resided in Pierre until 1965 when they moved to Sioux Falls. Victor worked as a revenue officer until his retirement in 1985. Victor was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed gardening, walking outside and visiting friends in the hospital. Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Ann; son, Mark; a grandson , Ashley Mortenson (Samantha Parker) , Ottumwa, IA; great granddaughter, Avenley; a sister, Dorothy Bringle, Sacramento, CA; daughter- in- law, Pam Mortenson; and nieces, Laurie Ward, Karen Wills, Rainy Bassano, Robbyn Bringle-West, and Bunny Palligrini. Victor was preceded in death by his parents, son, Wayne; sisters, Alvera and Lorraine; brothers, Kenneth and Kermit; brother- in-law, Raymond Bringle; nephew, Erik Mortenson and great nephew, James Wills.
