Arlene Bernice was born September 1, 1930 at Lansford, North Dakota to Enoch and Alice (Helgeson) Evanger. They moved to Sioux Falls when Arlene was 1 year old and she received her education in Sioux Falls schools. Arlene married Chester Krohn on October 22, 1947 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They had one daughter, Sharon. Arlene loved taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family. At the apartment complex where she lived many years, Arlene had many friends and enjoyed playing card games, bingo and attending pot luck dinners. She was very artistic and created many ceramic crafts over the years. For many years, Arlene loved to go walking and would often make her way from her apartment to the Kmart on west 12th Street. Arlene belonged to First Lutheran Church where she was active in the church nursery for a number of years. She also volunteered at the Salvation Army. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sharon Boese and her husband, Charles; four grandchildren, Kris Boese, Chuck Boese, Jr., Kevin Boese and Val Leonard all of Sioux Falls; four great grandchildren, Courtney Bruhn, Carly Bruhn, Cameron Bruhn and Emily Leonard; two sisters, Delores Dunkelberger and Bernice Evanger both of Sioux Falls. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Chester in 1984.
