Larry Russell

Larry was born June 18, 1944 in Sioux Falls, the son of Harold and Sarah (Butler) Russell. He grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School. After high school, Larry began working for the City of Sioux Falls. He started out as a janitor and parts runner and through hard work and perseverance, Larry became Supervisor of the street department, a position he held for 30 years. He retired in 1998 after 35 years as a Sioux Falls city employee . Larry married GG Hildebrandt in 1963. She passed away in 1988. Larry married Patricia Gulbrandson in 1998 in Sioux Falls. Larry was a member at Central Valley Golf Course for many years. He was an outdoors person throughout his life and enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed entertaining at his cabin at Lake Madison where family and friends enjoyed Larry and Pat's hospitality. Larry thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Over the years, Larry had many dogs that he loved; George, Nicki, Roy and Billy. Larry is survived by his wife, Pat; three children, Carey (Shana) Russell, Pamela Carlson and Dennis (Mary) Russell; step children, Gina Graham and Randy (Monica) Gulbrandson; 15 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 7 step-great grandchildren; a sister, Connie (David)Landry. He is preceded in death by his parents.
