Samuel Boyer

Sam was born August 28, 1949 at Washington D.C. , the son of Ralph and Edna (Bruce) Boyer. His parents were both active duty military members and were stationed in Japan after Sam was born. They returned to the United States when Sam was in grade school and they lived in and Montanna. Sam entered the US Army when he was 16 years old. He served in South Korea and Viet Nam. Sam settled in Wallawalla, Washington after his discharge from active duty. He worked as a truck driver for many years. In 1995, he came to Sioux Falls. He married Maude Johnson on September 6, 1996. Sam worked as a cook at Codys Truck Stop for a few years and then returned to truck driving until his health forced him to retire. He was 65 years old when he passed away September 23, 2014 at his home under Maude's loving care. Sam enjoyed woodworking, gun collecting, traveling with Maude and the companionship of his dog, Malik. He is survived by his wife, Maude; a son, Rueben; grandchildren, Jesse and Ashely Brower, Dodie Johnson and family, Tasha Crelly and family; two great grandchildren, Buom and Domach Kek; three siblings including his brother, Ralph; and numerous extended family members and friends.
