Carolyn Hood

Carolyn Ann Hood (Waagmeester) lost her courageous battle with cancer January, 17th 2015. She passed away at home peacefully with her family at her side. She was sent home to her heavenly father. She was born on April 29, 1945 in Rock Rapids, Iowa to Harvey and Iona (Lewis) Waagmeester. She lived in rural Larchwood, Iowa on the family until 1953. The family then moved to Sioux Falls, SD where she graduated from Washington Senior High School in 1963. On August 29th 1964, she married Don Hood at Augusta Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. Don and Carolyn settled in Sioux Falls had 4 children. In 1972, Don and Carolyn moved to Worthing, SD where they lived until moving to Loveland, Colorado in 1986. Don and Carolyn moved back to Sioux Falls, SD in 1998 until deciding to return to Loveland, Colorado in 2013. Carolyn enjoyed going rummaging around Sioux Falls with her lifelong best friend, Gloria Jacobsen. She loved baking and cooking for everyone and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Don; two children, Dana Jay Hood of Lennox, SD and Shanda (Chad) McGuire of Loveland, Colorado; 3 grandsons, Delane Hood, Trevor McGuire, and Tyler McGuire; her siblings, Winona Dockery (Jim), Myron Waagmeester (Julie), Brendell Jeffers (Rich), Paullina Perkins (Richard), Jay Waagmeester (Donnell), Danny Waagmeester (Stacie), Kenny Waagmeester (Linda), Amber Long (Steve) and Carla Lynn (Bill); Special lifelong friend, Gloria Jacobson (Lutz); special adoptive parents, Lester and Roberta Christopherson (Ma and Pa Christopherson); Carolyn also has a special step-granddaughter, Mikayla Bossman Bond. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Iona Waagmeester; two infant daughters, Dawn Marie born January 1966 (died in infancy), Cara Ann Hood, born March 1965 (died in infancy); and special nephew Donny Hander.
