Boris Volynski

September 19, 1937 — March 7, 2015

Boris was born September 19, 1937 in Kiev, Ukraine, the son of Avrum and Hana Dorfman. He grew up in the Ukraine with his parents and a sister, Lena. After serving in the Soviet Army, Boris was accepted at the Institute of Technology and Communications in 1960 and graduated with honors in 1966. He worked in the former U.S.S.R. as a chief Engineer in KONIIC for 30 years. In 1963, Boris was united in marriage with Olga Volynski. Boris, Olga and their son, Maksim, joined their daughter, Julia Seredin, at Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1996. Boris was a very skilled engineer, which allowed him to hold technical jobs in Sioux Falls despite his limited English language skills. From 1997 to 2010, Boris worked for Starmark and Electronic Systems Inc. He also had a second job at Hy-Vee. He enjoyed many things in his life and was a big fan of soccer. He spent many hours with the radio transmitter communicating with people all over the world. Boris collected stamps and taking professional photos of his family and friends. He was very handy and built a small cottage in the Ukraine and two garages in Sioux Falls. He also did many renovations to his home. Boris was a very good father, husband and friend. He was 77 years old when he passed away March 7, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Madison. Grateful for sharing in his life is his wife, Olga of Sioux Falls; his children, Julia Serendin and Maksim Volynskiy, both of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Ana (Seredina) Dicus, Liza Seredina, Anthony Seredin and Damien Volynskiy, all of Sioux Falls; great grandchildren, Alex and Lucian. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lena.
