John Lytle

John T. Lytle died Monday, March 10, 2015 at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 75. John T. Lytle was born March 31, 1939 to Vernon and Ruth (Kiepke ) Lytle.He grew up on a farm south of Pukwana and attended school in Pukwana, SD. After graduation he joined the Marines and served 1957-1964. Following the Marines, John went to mechanics school. John married Rita Abernathy. In 1970 John had an accident in which he lost his leg. John lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Gillette, Wyoming, Rapid City until finally settling in Chamberlain, SD. John had numerous jobs in the Chamberlain area including driving school bus for Pickner Busing, Brule County Landfill and the Senior Center. John enjoyed traveling to see family and friends. He loved to attend his granddaughter Bobbis basketball games. He also spent his time fishing with his friends and enjoyed playing poker machines. Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter Lori (Bob) Podhradsky of Mitchell, SD, three sons, Abner King (Ranee) of Salmon, Idaho, Jasper King of Placitas, NM, and Cory Fischer of Winner, SD, 10 grandchildren, Lori Hawes, Amy Wilson, Mandy Smith, John Podhradsky, Bobbi Ernst, Whitney Podhradsky, Shelby, Kyle, Jade and Rhianna King, 10 great grandchildren, Austin, Dylan, Elliot, Veda, Lottie, Finn, Tenn, Knox, Vanderlae and Penelope. 3 sisters, Alice Scott, Clovis, NM, Helen Wolfgang, Omaha, NE, and Shirley Golay of Gillette, Wy. He was preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Ruth, stepdaughter, Sandra Tulino, sister, Maggie Morre, 3 brothers, Alfred, Kenny and Earl Lytle. Prayer services for John Theodore Lytle will be held Monday, March 3rd at 2:00 pm at the United Church of Christ in Chamberlain.
