Lorrayne Alexander

February 26, 1922 — April 10, 2015

Lorrayne was born February 26, 1922 at Dell Rapids, South Dakota, the daughter of Henry and Julia (Albers) Nelson. She grew up at Dell Rapids and graduated from Dell Rapids High School. She then attended Presentation College School of Nursing at McKennan Hospital. She worked at a nurse in Sioux Falls for a few years. Lorrayne met Daniel Alexander while he was stationed at the air base in Sioux Falls. They were married July 10, 1944 at Salem, South Carolina. While Daniel was serving in the Army, Lorrayne returned to live at Sioux Falls. Dan joined Lorrayne following his discharge and they settled in Sioux Falls. Lorrayne crocheted for many years and made afghans and Barbie doll outfits. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins. She enjoyed reading, listening to country music and watching her grandsons baseball games. She also kept up with the local law enforcement activities by listening to the police scanner. At the Good Samaritan Center, Lorrayne was the Bingo Queen, winning many games and prizes. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Sherry, of Sioux Falls; two grandchildren, Lisa Young and T.J. (Lisa) Alexander; two great grandchildren, Philip and Jasmine. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister. Private interment services will be held at Hills of Rest Memorial Park.
