Patty Baker

June 17, 1949 — May 3, 2015

Patty passed away peacefully on May 3, 2015 with her family present at her side. Patty Lou Wagner was born June 17, 1949 to Henry and Rosella (Jones) Wagner. Patty grew up and received her education in Sioux Falls, SD. She graduated from Washington High School in 1967. She married Jerry L. Baker on June 2, 1969. From this union they had two girls, Karie and Sarah. Patty was very proud of her girls and her grandchildren. She had various jobs throughout her life, but her biggest accomplishment was building High-Altitude Scientific Research balloons for Raven Industries. In her spare time she loved to spend time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed fishing on the Missouri River for walleye. She also enjoyed cross-stitching and gardening. After retirement, Patty and Jerry were able to build their house near Pierre so they could enjoy the Missouri River on a daily basis. Patty leaves behind her husband Jerry L. Baker; daughters Karie Baker (Fianc Julie Erickson), Sarah Owan (Jason); grandchildren: Laken Owan, Jacob Hauglin (Celeste) and Madisen Owan; one great-grandson Cedryk Hauglin; Sisters: Donna Murphy, Dee Erickson (William), Janette Walsh (Dan); her two best friends Mary Centra and Colleen Birkeland; her dog Button, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dwane Wagner; Mother-in-law Betty Serles, Father-in-law Kenneth Baker, and Brother-in-law James Murphy. Please join us in celebrating Pattys life on Monday, May 18th at the VFW Post 628 on south Minnesota Ave in Sioux Falls from 6-8pm. Memorials may be sent in care of Sarah Owan @ 2701 W. Brentridge St. Sioux Falls, SD 57108.
