Dorothy Olson Beckett

Dorothy was born May 1, 1926 to Lyle D. Brigham and Gwendolyn (Momma Dolly) Presson in Seattle, Washington. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle. After high school, she worked for the telephone company and then at Seattle Luggage Company producing Army trunks. Dorothy married Leland S. Olson on April 27, 1946 in Seattle. To this marriage eight children were born. Dorothy worked for Servall Linen Company in Sioux Falls for several years. Dorothy married Delmar Beckett in 2002 Dorothy Ellen Olson Beckett passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on June 2, 2015 at her home in Sioux Falls. Some Dorothys favorite things in life were her faith in God and her family and friends. She enjoyed dancing, baking, playing cards, collecting dolls, and singing. She never met a person she didnt like and always saw the best in people. Dorothy made everyone feel that they were unique and the most special person deserving of her undivided attention. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 13 years, Delmar; eight children, Stanley (Jane) Olson of Canton, Patricia Koepp, Ole (Betty) Olson, Jean Trusty (Jim Pusl), Leland Olson, Jr. (Margy), all of Sioux Falls, Paul (Jody) Olson of Highland, IN, Joan (Ron) Hegge of Dell Rapids, Susan (Jim) Clark of Spirit Lake, IA; 25 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Jacqueline Conover; sister-in-law, Betty Brigham; step-children, Amy, Timothy and Jessie; and numerous extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leland Olson, Sr. and his parents, Edwin and Susie Olson; siblings, Vernon (Darlene) Olson, Maurice Grimlie, Lyle Brigham, Jr., Marilyn Bunnie Waltz; nephew, David Brigham; grandchildren, Wayne Evans and Jennifer Olson; son-in-law, Carl Koepp; and special friend, Mae Anderson. We thank God for loaning her to us. We feel incredibly lucky to have had her in our lives. We are giving her back to the Lords loving arms so she can gain back her wings and soar once again with the angels. The family also extends a huge thank you to Asera Care Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
