Floyd Callison

February 3, 1926 — June 21, 2016

Floyd A. Callison, 90, entered heavens gates on June 21, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls, SD. Floyd was born to Joe and Sadie (Pauly) Callison on February 3, 1926 in Powersville, MO. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. After his discharge, he married Mary Putnam and to that marriage five children were born; Jeffrey, Gary, Charles, Susan and Stephen. Floyd worked for John Morrell Company for 35 years and retired during the strike in 1987. Floyd married Beverly Moulton on December 12, 1987. He enjoyed feeding the birds, gardening and composting. He decided to make his own wine a year ago, so he bought the grape vines and built the arbor and gave those vines a lot of TLC. Floyd was very proud of his wine although he didnt drink it. He also loved to go to rummage sales and if he found a tool or coffee pot he didnt have, he bought it, took it home and put it on a shelf where it was often forgotten. He enjoyed sitting out on the deck in his swing watching the geese on the lake with their families. But most of all, he enjoyed his little dog, Angel. The staff and residents at Good Samaritan Village liked Floyd and he had many friends. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the VFW Post 628. Floyd is survived by his wife of 28 years, Beverly; four children, Jeffrey and wife, Beth, of Cove, OR, Charles and wife, Cheri, of Spearfish, SD, Susan of Missoula, MT, and Stephen of Newcastle, WY; six grandchildren and many great grandchildren; four step-sons, Gary Moulton of Rapids City, Robert Moulton, Russ Moulton and Mark (Lisa) Moulton, all of Sioux Falls; step-grandchildren, Josh (Jen) Falk and Kala Falk; step-great granddaughter, Aubrey Ella Wilson of Dell Rapids; a niece Faye (David) Westphal of Dubuque, IA. He was preceded in death by parents; a brother, Lloyd, and his wife, Louise; a sister, Floris Marie Hart of Floris, IA; and a son, Gary Callison. Funeral Service 2 pm Monday, June 27, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Sioux Falls, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church
