Jeanette was born October 7, 1935 at Sioux Falls, the daughter of Frederick and Margarethe (Peterson) McKenzie. She grew up in Sioux Falls, graduated from Washington High School and attended nursing school in Pierre. Jeanette worked as an LPN at Sioux Valley Hospital for many years . Jeanette married Willis Brenner on August 21, 1982 in Sioux Falls. They moved to Arkansas in 1985 where Jeanette continued her nursing career at a nursing home and St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesborough, Arkansas. She also completed EMT training. When Jeanette retired in 2000, she and Willis returned to Sioux Falls. Jeanette was 80 years old when she passed away August 27, 2016 at Dow Rummel Village, Sioux Falls. Jeanette enjoyed many activities: gardening, hiking, calligraphy, crochet, traveling and reading. She was an active member of Faith Temple Church in Sioux Falls. She is survived by her husband, Willis; four children, Michael (Jill) Phelps of Fremmont, NE, Harlan (Deb) Phelps of Sioux Falls, Ronda (Ron) Brown of Klamath Falls, OR and Patricia Phelps; 10 grandchildren and great grandchildren; 5 siblings, John McKenzie, Allen McKenzie, Margarethe Gravning, Virginia Guse and Priscilla Rose Baldwin. She is preceded in death by her parents; six siblings, Kenneth, Frederick, James, Russell, Arlene and Elaine; 2 great grandchildren.
