Kenneth C Pederson

Ken was born September 29, 1921 at Clarkfield, MN the son of Knudt and Cora (Nelson) Pederson. He grew up at Canton, SD. Ken worked for the Lincoln County Highway Department for a number of years. While living in Canton, Ken met Opal Hemstock and they married January 24, 1944 in Luverne, MN. They lived in Canton and Denver prior to settling in Sioux Falls. Ken worked for Dakota Auto Parts for many years and later at Kmart in the maintenance department until he retired in 1985. Opal passed away December 11, 2011 and Ken soon after became a resident at Palisades Manor in Garretson. Ken was 94 years old when he passed away on September 19, 2016 at Palisades Manor. Ken loved music and played the accordion, violin and organ. He and Opal enjoyed going dancing. Ken was always busy with craft work even as a resident at the nursing home where his room was "Ken's Workshop". He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Sandy Pederson of Garretson; four grandchildren, Kenneth (Marsha) Pederson, Pierre (Lucia) Pederson, Jewell (Perry) Feucht, and Jennifer (John) Heesch; and fifteen great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ken; and three sisters, Oline Underland, Palma Viland and Martha Jervick. Funeral Service will be Thursday, September 22, 2016 at United Church of Garretson with visitation 1 hour prior to the funeral service.
